This bowl is a study of contrasts: hard and soft, smooth and textured, red and white, light and dark. Wheel thrown off the hump, fluted surface, hand cut foot, soda fired to cone 10. I enjoy the peeks of white where the glaze breaks on the edges. Red was my grandmothers favorite colour so I try to incorporate it as one of my go to colours to remember her influence on what I do today as well as pay homage to the fact that it is one of the earths most natural colours. It seems apt that the foot would be cut by hand, further adding to the attractiveness of this bowl.
