Stamped Oribe Tea Bowl
I enjoyed making this tea bowl. It was thrown on the wheel using a translucent porcelain then stamped with a clay stamp I made in studio. It was trimmed, bisque fired then glazed in tenmoku, celadon and shino and fired to cone 10 in a gas soda kiln. The interaction of the glaze, soda and fire creates a stunning effect. There is a softness to the bowl yet it is bold and elegant. The glazes have pooled and darkened in the impressions left by the stamp beautifully.
